Meet Ursula Ellis BA Hons, the artist

Welcome to the world of UrsulaEllisArt. Discover the passion, inspiration, and unique touch behind every ceramic piece. I invite you to explore my journey, my love for organic forms, and the beauty of nature woven into each creation.

Born in 1987 in the picturesque town of Tenby, Pembrokeshire, my artistic journey began at an early age,  rooted in the vibrant natural landscapes that surrounded me. Growing up in such a beautiful coastal area gave me an appreciation for nature, which continues to serve as a  inspiration in my work.

I pursued my passion for the arts academically, completing my A levels in art before furthering my skills at university. In 2009, I earned my degree in Photographic Art. My time at university ignited a passion for capturing the essence of my surroundings, blending the real with the envisioned.

After graduation, I embraced the role of gallery manager, where I had the privilege of working alongside renowned artists such as Timmy Mallet, Doug Hyde, and Fabian Perez. This experience not only enriched my understanding of the art world but also solidified my desire to contribute to it creatively.

I began exploring different mediums, each offering a unique avenue for creativity. For the past five years, I have immersed myself in ceramics, guided by the mentorship of the esteemed Susan Zeppellini. Under her guidance, I have discovered the tactile joys of clay, learning to shape and mold it into forms that resonate with my artistic vision.

My current work is a celebration of nature, reflecting my deep-seated connection to the environment. I focus primarily on sculpture, allowing me to create pieces that evoke the beauty and complexities of the natural world. Each sculpture is a dialogue between the material and the organic, a fusion of my experiences and observations. The textures, shapes, and colours in my work invite viewers to connect with the beauty of nature and consider their relationship to it.

As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of my craft.  Every piece tells a story, inviting the observer to pause and reflect on the intricate beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it.

I am excited to share my artistic journey with you and hope to inspire others through my work. Art, for me, is a bridge between the seen and the unseen, a way to communicate the emotions and connections that bind us to our environment. I invite you to explore my creations and join me on this artistic adventure, where nature and creativity intertwine.

Inspired by the wild beauty of Wales

Living near the stunning coastline and breathtaking landscapes of Wales has profoundly shaped me as an artist. My deep-rooted love for the Welsh land and its abundant animal life is visibly infused into every ceramic creation, connecting my art to this beautiful place.

A connection to nature

Above all, I hope that when you encounter my ceramic art, you feel a profound connection to nature. Each piece is crafted to evoke the raw beauty and spirit of the natural world, inviting you to pause, observe, and feel that bond.
